More than 150 Oscar nominees gathered at a Beverly Hills hotel on Monday to celebrate the joy of just being nominated.
Honorees in all 24 of this year's Oscar categories - from hairstylists to A-listers - turned out for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences annual nominees luncheon.
Stars including Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Matthew McConaughey, Leonardo DiCaprio and Amy Adams posed for the traditional nominee class photo at the event, held in the Beverly Hilton Hotel - with Blue Jasmine nominated actress Cate even kicking off her Christian Louboutin heels as she excitedly ran to the stage.
Say cheese! The full line-up of 2014 Oscar
nominees put their rivalry aside as they posed together in huge group
shot at a pre-event luncheon at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Monday

Julie Delpy, who is nominated for best adapted screenplay for Before Midnight, said: 'I'm not used to this. It's hard, actually, because I don't have a structure around me with like 10 nannies. It gets really messy. I'm just hanging in there, barely.'
The writer-actress added that she hadn't yet settled on her Oscar night look.
'I'm kind of nervous', she admitted. 'I'm not the kind of actress that is in the gym and not eating. Some people do that, but I'm not able to. I have a kid and I'm raising him and I'm writing. So doing two hours at the gym is not something I have time to do or like to do.'
Ditching the heels: Cate Blanchett took off her Christian Louboutin heels as she excitedly made her way up to the stage
Dressed to impress: Gravity's Sandra Bullock and
American Hustle's Amy Adams posed with director/writer Alfonso Cuarón,
singer Karen O and actor Leonardo DiCaprio among others in the line-up
Delpy then rushed over to fellow nominee and rising fashion star Lupita Nyong'o of 12 Years a Slave and gushed as the two snapped a photo together.
Speaking about her nomination in the luncheon press room earlier, Lupita said: 'It's a recognition of the highest -- everyone regards the Oscars as
the ultimate stamp of approval and I don't know. I guess we'll see.'
And asked whether she had predicted that she would receive a nomination, Lupita added: 'I didn't expect anything. No, there is no way I could have dreamt any of this stuff up. It has been an incredible journey. It's an adventure and a very exiting one and a very rewarding one and a very revealing one as well.'
Gold for victory: Dallas Buyers Club nominated
actor Jared Leto courted attention in his gold jacket, which he said he
bought after deciding that it was a 'lot of fun'
Sumptuous setting: The annual luncheon was held inside the Beverly Hilton Hotel
Amy's American Hustle co-star Bradley Cooper is also nominated for an award for his role in the film, and said he had his own tips for who should have been nominated this year.
He said: 'There are a lot of great people nominated this year. I wish Tom Hanks was in there. Sort of crazy he is not.'
Proud wife: Matthew McConaughey, nominated for
his role in Dallas Buyers Club, was joined at the luncheon by his
stunning wife Camila
Making new friends: Best Actress nominee Sandra
Bullock posed alongside Pharrell Williams, whose song Happy from
Despicable Me 2 also received a nod
Trying it on for size! As Pharrell was interviewed at the luncheon, he let the interviewer try on his famous hat
One person who was noticeably absent from the luncheon was Jennifer Lawrence, who is up for Best Supporting Actress for her role in David O. Russell's film.
According to her American Hustle co-star Amy, Jennifer's absence was due to her being busy filming the next instalment of the hit Hunger Games film franchise.
Another star who failed to make an appearance at the luncheon was Julia Roberts, nominated for her role in August: Osage County, who gave the occasion a miss following the tragic death of her half-sister Nancy Motes.
So nice to meet you: Cate Blanchett, nominated for Blue Jasmine, chatted to American Hustle Costume Designer Michael Wilkinson
Doing the rounds: Ethan Hawke was accompanied by
daughter Maya Thurman-Hawke to the luncheon, with the pair posing
alongside his Before Midnight co-star Julie Delpy
Nearby, a giggling Meryl Streep chatted with Bruce Dern; Josh Gad greeted Sandra Bullock with a kiss on both cheeks; and Ethan Hawke could be seen introducing his date for the afternoon, daughter Maya Thurman Hawke, to everyone from Leonardo to Spike Jonze.
Leonardo is up for Best Actor for his role in The Wolf Of Wall Street, and spoke about the controversial reaction Martin Scorsese's film has received.
He said: 'There is a lot of disgusting behaviour in the movie and it was very much a reflection of this. We as filmmakers wanted to display this part of humanity on screen, this irresponsibility. Scorsese isn't someone who spoon-feeds an audience. I'm not going to judge these characters. I'm going to show them as who they are. And also, you have a protagonist at the end who doesn't get his due and proper. That's why his films are timeless.
Catching up: 12 Years A Slave actress Lupita
Nyong'o was seen deep in conversation with Captain Phillips actor
Barkhad Abdi inside the luncheon
Set for success: Somali-American actor Barkhad
made his cinematic debut in Captain Phillips, and received an Oscar
nomination for the role
'They are not specific to that period. It's portraying a part of humanity and all its truth. Those are the type of films I want to be part of. All of us were playing a character with no moral compass and were consumed with power and wealth. We looked at it like a gigantic Bosch painting. Pure debauchery. It was entertaining.'
But Leonardo has some tough competition in his category, with Matthew McConaughey hotly tipped to take home the prize for his role as Ron Woodroof in Dallas Buyers Club.
And referring to the critical reception that the movie has received, Matthew said: 'I think one of the surprising things is that we have six nominations for this little film that we thought would never get made. Getting it made, we thought, was a huge victory. That surprised me. I thought it had the potential to be something special, but as you know, there is no guarantee.
Big announcement: Bono used the luncheon to
reveal that he would be performing his nominated song from Mandela: A
Long Walk To Freedom at the awards ceremony, as he posed with (left to
right) actor Santino Fontana, songwriter Robert Lopez, songwriter
Kristen Anderson-Lopez and actor Josh Gad at the luncheon
Set for Oscar success? Gravity director Alfonso
Cuarón posed alongside producer David Heyman, and Academy of Motion
Picture Arts and Sciences CEO Dawn Hudson
'That stuck with people and they are shining a light on it. Other than the whole process? I have had a good time doing it. I think it has to do with the experience I had. I can talk about this experience with Ron Woodroof for the rest of my life.'
At one point during the luncheon, Bono announced that he was going to perform the nominated song Ordinary Love from Mandela on the March 2 Oscar broadcast.
But the festivities were not without a little business - like when Oscar show co-producer Craig Zadan told prospective winners to keep it moving on the big night.
'Please get to the stage quickly, really quickly,' Zadan said. 'The moment you reach the microphone, the timer begins and you will have 45 seconds to speak.'
Asked if he still had his unused acceptance speech from the Moneyball year, Jonah replied: 'It's in my safe. I figured I could just change some of the names from the Moneyball speech. The possibility of winning seems so insane to me. It seems so indulgent to me. I guess I will write one just in the one-in-a-billion chance it happens.'
Seeking to tighten a broadcast that has approached four hours in recent years, Zadan warned potential group winners to select a designated speaker 'who should begin to speak immediately before the whole group has assembled on stage.'
Wolf pack: Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill both
received nominations for their roles in The Wolf Of Wall Street and
looked dapper in their suits for the occasion
Leading men: Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto and Bradley Cooper suited up for the star-studded annual event
'The show is successful if the pacing of the evening feels brisk,' he said to a chorus of laughter from the sceptical crowd. With the 86th Academy Awards coming in less than three weeks, the race for best picture remains a three-way contest between American Hustle, Gravity and 12 Years a Slave.
Gravity, however, appears to have a slight edge following its win at the January 25th Directors Guild Awards, this year's last major contest before the March 2 Oscars.
Academy members will cast their Oscar votes between February 14th and 25th.
